`timeout` - run a command with a time limit

timeout [-s SIGNAL] [-k DURATION] DURATION command

Options you will use

-s SIGNAL: Send this signal instead of TERM.
-k DURATION: Send KILL this long after the first signal if it is still running.

Gotchas

Exit status 124 means the command timed out.
