ssh-keygen - authentication key generation

ssh-keygen [-t TYPE] [-C COMMENT] [-f FILE]

Options you will use

-t TYPE
Key type. ed25519 is the modern default: short, fast, strong.
-C COMMENT
A comment, conventionally your email - it is what you see in the GitHub UI.
-f FILE
Output file (default ~/.ssh/id_ed25519).
-l
Show the fingerprint of a key file (-lf key.pub).
-R HOSTNAME
Remove all keys of HOSTNAME from known_hosts - after a server was rebuilt and "REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED".
-F HOSTNAME
Search known_hosts for HOSTNAME.
-y
Read a private key and print its public key.
-N PASSPHRASE
The new passphrase ("" for none).
-b BITS
Key size (for RSA; ed25519 has a fixed size).
-E HASH
Fingerprint hash: sha256 (default) or md5.
-p
Change the passphrase of a private key.
-q
Quiet.

Examples

$ ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "[email protected]"

then add ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub to GitHub
