session-manager-plugin - the AWS Session Manager plugin: the client side of `aws ssm start-session`
session-manager-plugin
Examples
$ session-manager-plugincheck that it is installed
$ aws ssm start-session --target i-0abc...a shell on the instance, no SSH, no port 22
Gotchas
- Without it,
aws ssm start-sessionfails with "SessionManagerPlugin is not found. Please refer to SessionManager Documentation here: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/console/systems-manager/session-manager-plugin-not-found". - The instance side is the SSM Agent (snap amazon-ssm-agent on Ubuntu AMIs), which needs the AmazonSSMManagedInstanceCore permissions and HTTPS to ssm, ssmmessages and ec2messages (a NAT route or interface endpoints).
Try session-manager-plugin in a real terminal Free, in your browser - a real Ubuntu terminal to try it in, with missions that check your work.
