`mtr` - a network diagnostic tool combining traceroute and ping

mtr [-rwn] [-c COUNT] HOST

Options you will use

-r, --report: run COUNT cycles and print a report (what you paste in a ticket)
-w, --report-wide: report without truncating host names
-c COUNT: cycles to run (default 10)
-n, --no-dns: numeric addresses only

Examples

$ mtr -rn -c 20 10.0.3.20

loss and latency per hop, twenty probes each

Gotchas

Loss at one middle hop but not at the ones after it is ICMP rate limiting on that router, not real loss. Only loss that continues to the last hop matters.
